Big wildlife is always a blast to photograph. We have been lucky to shoot the Brown Bears in Alaska for a few years, and as a result our bear photo archive is gigantic. Last time when I checked the bear photo archive, we have about 15,000 keepers stored on the hard drives. While working on a blog posting about our photo archival and backup solution, I also had a chance to update the bear photo gallery. Enjoy!
What a whirlwind it has been for a past few months. From Alaska to Tennessee sure has been a change, and while we have been relentlessly working on some stock assignments, the social media has been seriously neglected.
However, finally the life is getting more stable so it is time to get social again. Although “official announcements” will come over the next two weeks, some teasers include gear reviews, weekly wildlife photos, and a new series of tips and tricks with various photo editing applications from PhotoShop to the mobile apps.
KominiakPhoto is happy to join The Olivia Act, and provide a free photography session in Alaska’s Anchorage/MatSu Valley area to a family who would appreciate the gift.
The Olivia Act, named after one of the children killed in Newtown, CT, was started by a professional photographer who wishes to remain anonymous. Olivia’s family had family pictures taken a short time before she was killed. Those pictures are precious and now priceless to them. Upon hearing this, the photographer was moved to give away a 30 minute family photo shoot and has challenged other photographers to do the same. We go about our daily lives, and sometimes we don’t take the time or have the resources to have family photos taken.
I will be taking nominations for a family who you think would appreciate this gift. This session will take place after the New Year. I will be taking Nominations until January 2nd. Please email their name, contact information and a brief summary of why you chose them to firstname.lastname@example.org putting “THE OLIVIA ACT NOMINATION” in the subject line.
The chosen family will be contacted via email or phone call. Please do not post their information here. The gift is a 30 minute session and a collection of digital portraits, so they may have priceless keepsakes to adorn their home.
